Julian Hudson is currently a senior at Seton Hall Preparatory School where he is an honor roll student. Outside of the classroom, he is the Student Body Secretary, Secretary of the Black Student Society, and a 4-year member of the Spring Track Team.
Julian has a strong passion for music, which began at age 5 when he started Suzuki Piano lessons at the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State University. Throughout middle school and high school, Julian has played multiple instruments including trumpet and saxophone before settling on his current instrument, the trombone. After many years playing in his school bands, Julian was accepted into the New Jersey Performing Arts Center Wells Fargo Jazz for Teens Program in 2018. There, he learns from great jazz masters such as Earl McIntyre, Wayne Escoffery, and Valery Ponomarev, and is a selected member of the James Moody Jazz Orchestra and the George Wein Scholars Ensemble.
In addition to music, Julian is passionate about tying his musical works into a social justice platform. His goal is to become a professional jazz musician, composer, educator, and activist who uses music to promote equality and justice. Julian currently lives in Maplewood, New Jersey with his parents and his younger brother, Clay.
