Overview

Being intersex means having physical, hormonal or genetic features that do not fit typical expectations of male or female bodies. This type of variation in sex characteristics is natural and more common than people realize — about as prevalent in our population as having red hair.

This month’s Standing in Solidarity film and panel conversation is focused on building respect for human diversity and raising awareness of the intersex community. By learning about the stigma, discrimination and healthcare challenges faced by members of the intersex community, we can become better allies and advocates for change. April’s program is produced by NJPAC’s LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group.

Our film is Intersexion, a documentary that follows the personal stories of people who identify as neither male nor female. A link to the film will be emailed to registrants.
