Overview

New Jersey is a national leader when it comes to protecting the welfare of its children and families. Decades of reform are building a preventative, anti-racist and family-centered wellbeing system — one that eliminates the need for non-kin foster care by empowering and uplifting families.

Our Standing in Solidarity panel of experts will discuss how the state supports its families in crises and where the fault lines remain.

The conversation is preceded by a screening of the PSEG True Diversity film Truth to Transformation, a documentary about three former foster children and how their lived experiences impact policies at the N.J. Department of Children and Families.

The N.J. Department of Children and Families: Office of Family Voice and adoption resources, Parents Inc, Str8Up Employment Services, Brick City Peace Collective, Newark Community Street Team and Office of Violence Prevention will have resources available in the lobby.
