Newark’s own Sheikia Norris—aka rapper Purple Haze—explores the mix of messages society sends girls about what it means to be a woman, and how they can silence that cacophony so they can hear their own inner voices. In this piece, the audience meets three young women locked in a school amphitheater, who challenge each other through spoken word duels celebrating womanhood and self-expression.
