till resources

Till is a biographical film about a mother’s unwavering pursuit of truth and justice after the ruthless slaying of her teenage son. In 1955, after 14-year-old Emmett Till is murdered in a brutal lynching, his mother, Mamie Till-Mobley, vows to expose the racism behind the attack while working to have those involved brought to justice.

The emotional and cinematic film Till depicts the true story of Mamie’s poignant journey of grief turned to action. Sadly, this horrific moment in history remains relevant today. And yet, witnessing the power of one mother’s ability to fight against racism and make a difference is a model of how we can all stand up for a righteous cause. The screening at NJPAC will be followed by a panel discussion to help audience members process the film and its subject matter.

Till is an Orion Pictures feature film. It was directed by Chinonye Chukwu, who co-wrote the script with Michael Reilly and Keith Beauchamp. It stars Danielle Deadwyler as Mamie TIll-Mobley, Jalyn Hall as Emmett Till, Whoopi Goldberg as Emmett’s grandmother, and Frankie Faison as Emmett’s grandfather.
